Structural Integration

ATSI (Anatomy Trains Structural Integration) is a therapy that works on the body’s connective tissue, or fascia, to improve postural alignment, restore range and ease of movement, and address areas of chronic pain. By balancing how lines of force travel through the body, this work prevents premature aging of the joints and spine and maintains optimal and pain free function.

Returning Clients with Jonathan

I was drawn to massage therapy by following my heart, pursuing a desire to help people feel happier and healthier in their bodies. It brings me joy to know that clients appreciate the results they get from my relaxation, injury rehabilitation, deep tissue, sports, prenatal, and elder massage modalities.

In 2013 I graduated from the East West College of Healing Arts in Portland, Oregon, an 800-hour accredited massage program. After graduation I worked in a chiropractic office focusing on treatment for accident-related injuries and owned a massage therapy practice in the Portland/Vancouver area.

I relocated to Denver in 2015 and enjoyed working in two practices there, but I knew I wanted to align with a world class massage clinic. Bodywork for Liberation offers our community a group of very talented therapists who represent excellence in massage therapy. I’m thrilled to be a part of this team and work alongside my gifted colleagues.

It means the world to me when clients say they experience a new level of deep relaxation on my massage table. And when I’m providing relief for neck, shoulder, back, carpal tunnel or injuries, I know I’m making a difference in my clients’ quality of life.

In my free time you can find me enjoying the outdoors, likely camping with my partner and 3 ½ year old daughter. I love hearing and seeing live music. I also enjoy walking my cat, Jasper.

Whether my clients seek pain relief, Thai or Integrative massage, somatic awareness or deep relaxation, I’m honored to support them on their healing journey. I believe massage has the potential to not only provide a deeper sense of spaciousness and grounding in our bodies through relieving tension and improving mobility, but also an opportunity to listen to our inner experience and re-engage and nurture the intelligence living in the body. My desire to support people to experience, learn from and befriend the life-giving resource of inner somatic intelligence guided me to my bodywork practice.

This passion led me to a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, a deep, resourceful relationship with Yoga, extensive training in Thai Yoga Massage, and to receiving my license as massage therapist. In my treatment room, I offer my sincerity in supporting my clients’ experience of wellness, my unconditional confidence in the body’s ability to heal and find balance, and a therapeutic space for my clients to end our sessions feeling a clearer, vibrant connection to self and the living moment.

In each session I intend to create a flowing and rhythmic experience informed by my client’s goals. I have discovered this approach supports the client’s mind to quiet, and invites an experience of connected, internal presence. I offer several modalities to help clients, including Thai massage, an ancient healing modality that incorporates a combination of stretching, compression, acupressure, and energy work. Our sessions can also include Integrative massage, where I combine a variety of techniques such as cupping, myofascial techniques, acupressure, and reciprocal inhibition into a treatment—creating an individualized, healing experience.

Thai massage is traditionally practiced on a mat while the client is in comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. This style of bodywork allows the client to passively receive three-dimensional, therapeutic stretching and mobility techniques that are coordinated to clear and harmonize the energetic channels of the body. At the heart of each of my sessions is the Buddhist practice of Metta, or loving-kindness. Through Metta and the physical Thai massage techniques, I create a peaceful atmosphere that gives my clients the opportunity to connect with their breath, move energy and experience new connections in their body.

I commonly treat pain-inducing body patterns that come from sitting, such as driving and using a computer. I help clients to improve their head posture, neck stiffness, elevated shoulders, posteriorly tilted pelvis, hip impingement, and hypertonicity in hamstrings and hip-flexors. I also commonly treat knee, hip and low back pain related to sports and exercise.

It brings me joy when my sessions support clients in feeling a sense of inner spaciousness and grounding—and a clearer, more vibrant connection to self and the living moment. It’s a great compliment when my clients say they feel supported by my partnership in their healing journey.

When I’m not working you can find me explore the mountains, hunting for hot springs, dancing to live music, cooking and creating a space for my family and friends to enjoy.

I’ve always felt that massage therapy is my calling. I connect with the muscles, playing them as an instrument—in the way a guitarist can convey their emotions straight into your soul. I’m really connecting to sensation, and that’s what guides me.

With more than 18 years of experience as a massage therapist, I’ve worked in and managed five-star spas throughout the United States. I’m able to accommodate a wide variety of client needs and experience levels.

Clients ask me, “How are you able to feel my pain as easily as you do?” I bring the quality of being-ness with a depth that informs the way that I work. My clients feel seen, felt, and cared for. Providing pain relief or relaxation, my pressure ranges from light to deep, according to my clients’ needs.

After completing my associate degree from the Boulder School of Massage Therapy, I was asked to join the faculty and teach students. I’ve completed more than 1,000 hours of continuing education in a variety of modalities including Reiki (Level 2), cranial-sacral, and Lomi Lomi techniques.

My clients get physical benefits from our sessions. But they also have the benefit of the session experience.

I’ve been a massage therapist since 2004. I attended the Institute for Phenomenal Touch Massage, completing all levels of coursework and ultimately becoming a Master Instructor of Phenomenal Touch. My massage style can be flowing and fluid, touching you on a physical and spiritual level. In addition to asking you for input on the massage that’s right for you that day, I listen to your body and sense the guidance it gives me.

I’m passionate about helping people recover from health challenges and surgery—and also to stay healthy—through massage. My work helps clients with a myriad of health issues, including:

• Surgery recovery • Pregnancy/prenatal • Osteoarthritis • Autoimmune disorders • Menopause • Osteoporosis/osteopenia • Post-hysterectomy or uterine surgery • Breast health: post-mastectomy/lumpectomy, reconstruction or augmentation

I enjoy helping people discover the depths of wisdom available to them through massage. I believe that we all store emotion in our bodies, and I’m committed to helping my clients dissipate the energy through my Phenomenal Touch massage and intuitive healing approach. In addition to my massage experience, I have studied with a Mayan shaman from Guatemala. My two vision quests, many teepee ceremonies, and multiple sweat lodges have expanded my shamanic training.

The body tells a story that we have lived and endured. Being touched in a very reverent way allows the emotions to be accessed. I am honored by the trust my clients place in me.
